| Finding A Lost Dog Losing a pet of any kind can be quite devastating. You must be prepared, however, for the day when little Princess bolts out the door and disappears around the corner. The steps you took in advance may make the difference in whether you ever see Princess again. All pets need to wear an ID tag. Even indoor pets as they can, and do escape. Each ID tag should have your name, address and both a day and evening phone number. Your pet's name can also be included. Something to consider is whether you will want to offer a reward for a safe return. If so, simply add the word "Reward" to the tag. Such a tag can hasten the return of a lost pet. More elaborate methods of ID would include tattoos or chip implants. Check with your local animal shelters and veterinarian to see if they have a data base to help locate lost pets with these methods before you consider them. Losing a pet is indeed devastating, but getting them home safely is quite a reward. |
